Eagle Gold Mine Extension Project

Extension Project Overview

Victoria Gold Corp. (VGC) is proposing to extend the life of its current Eagle Gold Mine. The Eagle Gold Mine is an open pit gold mine owned by VGC. The mine is located in central Yukon approximately 85 km from the village of Mayo and 375 km north of Whitehorse in the Traditional Territory of First Nation of Na-Cho Nyäk Dun (FNNND).

The mine operations commenced in July 2019. The mine operation involves open pit mining and gold extraction using a three-stage crushing process, heap leaching, and a carbon adsorption, desorption, and recovery system. Take a Virtual Tour of Eagle Gold Mine here.

The Eagle Gold Mine Extension Project (the Extension Project) is proposed by VGC to extend the currently assessed and permitted mine plan for the Eagle Gold Mine.

By extending the life of the mine from 9 to 15 years, we’ll be ensuring the significant economic opportunities and positive impacts the mine provides in Mayo and Yukon will continue.

As we work on the mine extension, a thorough and extensive public consultation, including open houses in Mayo to listen to concerns and answer questions, is continuing. Upcoming consultation events and engagement opportunities are listed here.

The feedback received during the thorough consultation process will be incorporated into the effects assessment that will form the final submission to YESAB. These regulatory processes will ensure the Extension Project meets rigorous environmental standards, incorporates community feedback and measures our mine performance based on detailed environmental and socio-economic baselines.

You can provide your feedback on the Extension Project in a number of ways, including by submitting a comment form here or by participating in one of the upcoming events.
